A solo Jewelry exhibition of Olga Beregovaya

On February 17th, the university opened a solo exhibition of Olga Beregovaya, associate professor of the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts.

Olga is a well-known jewelry artist and researcher in the Urals and Russia, author of numerous publications on "Costume Jewelry: Artistic Image and Regional Identity." She employs her signature technique of hand-modeling in wax, followed by casting. Her artworks depict female images and, often, natural forms such as fish and floral motifs, as well as Old Slavic symbols. She has been awarded prizes at various specialized jewelry art competitions. Just recently she was awarded 1st place at the Art Weeks in Asia international exhibition and competition project in Katmandu, Nepal, (Jan. 29 – Feb. 6, 2026) for her fish-shaped brooch «May» in the Arts and Crafts section, nomination Water World.

The current exhibition, entitled "Intervals of Silence”, represents a creative dialogue between two art forms—graphics and jewelry, a reflection on the journey from an internal, almost inexpressible impulse to a finished, physical form.

In a short video (https://vk.ru/video-76385304_456239631 ), Olga explains her approach to creativity as an exploration of the process from concept to execution. The story begins with sketches, where the initial impulse is born. Then the idea enters into a dialogue with the material—metal, stone, texture. This stage is presented not as a mechanical execution, but as a search, where the material itself suggests solutions, transforming the initial concept. The end result is the birth of a finished object, in which thought and matter strike a precise balance.

As a professor, Olga teaches students to first discover their own unique creative voice. Only then can they express that voice in a flawless, conscious form and master the craftsmanship techniques.

Under her guidance, the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts has taken a lead in arts and crafts education, attracting students not only from the region but also from across Russia and other countries.
