General tips

1. Make sure that you hold a student visa to enter Russia. Initially, you’ll be allowed to stay 3 months. After your arrival at the university, we’ll have your visa extended via the Immigration Service.

2. Russian currency is rubles. From the very beginning you will need some rubles. Be sure you have some US dollars or Euros or Chinese yuans on you, which you’ll be able to exchange at local banks.

3. Bring some passport-sized (3cmx4cm) photos of you. However, you can also get photographed here at photo shops.

4. Calls to Russia start with a country code – 7 , an area code – for Ekaterinburg 343.

5. Make sure that the university knows your arrival date and time. Contact the International Office before you start planning your trip.

6. The Ural State University of Architecture and Art provides tuition in the Russian language only, so learn Russian to an adequate level to be able to communicate and study.

7. Voltage Requirements. Similar to Europe: 220 V; Plug C.

8. Visit the official web-site of the city of Ekaterinburg to learn more about it before arrival. It is in Russian, but you surely have already learned some Russian if you intend to study at our university.
